Long time ago, I did some serious touring.

After that it has been a lot of daily riding and weekend trips.

On sportsbikes, choppers, side valves, 2-strokes....

In recent years, an Iron Butt run and even an organized 2 weeks tour of Nepal.

And restauration projects in the garage. But no solo trips during longer periods. Due to family, work, sickness ...

When I was touring when there were no mobile phones. Calling home required a payhone feeded with coins. Every country in Europe had its own money. There were not ATMs or credit cards. Cash was the king. And travellers check was the backup. There were no GPS navigators. Paper maps was what we had to use. Thanks to Michelin for providing good maps.

No one had heard about adventure bikes. There were more or less only naked bikes. You had to create your touring bike yourself. My choice was a Moto Guzzi 850 T from 1974. STAffan LArsson in MAlung had the company STALAMA. He produced fairings and panniers for several bikes. That is how I converted my bike into a touring bike.
