Twintraveller in Calgary and Rockie Mountains 15.06.2004
English Version........sorry, no German version this time
Dear friends,
after we left Winnipeg we had 1400 km of flat prairies before us of what we had 700km of rain and decided to spend our first night in a cabin. Approaching Calgary we spent a night in a Dinosaur Prov Park, a place where they found the most Dino bones in the world. After that we rode to Calgary and got picked up by Wayne, the owner of the only Africa Twin in Canada. He did not onl give us a place to sleep in his house during the next few rainy days, he also did a cool ride with us and helped us a lot with maintaining the bikes. Thanks Wayne for your support.
Unforuntately the Calgary flames did not win the Hockey cup so the party was limited, but we had a lot of fun watching the game with Waynes family. Ater that we rode a big loop through the Kootenay National Park before coming back to Canmore where we were able to spend some wonderful days with Bettina and Michael in that lovely little town. We were celebrating their kids birthday, explored the village and waited for the rain to stop. On Sunday we left to Jasper and got stucked in snow on the Athabasca Glacier near the Columbia Icefield. That happens if u camp on Canadas highest campground. But it was fun. We met a lot of people, enjoyed the birthday cake we got with us from Bettina and had nice campfire to warm us. Now we are in Jasper and we are planning to hike a bit while the weather is getting better. Afterwards we are heading north although still unsure if we should go to Yellowknife or rather more west. Lets see.
We are still feeling wonderful, enjoying the mountains, the rides, the people who are so wonderful to us and help us everywhere. See some new pics from Calgary and area.
Hope yu are all ok and we hear from u soon.
Alles Liebe aus Canada
Martin und Katja
