Headed South

I plan to depart on the 5th of August riding down the mountains all the way from the Arctic Sea. This journey will extend for more than 20,000 miles and take more than a year. When I last wrote I had just returned from the Himalayas where I was helping with relief efforts
for two weeks. The past few weeks have been back on the road and it feels great! The cool wind in my hair and an open stretch of road as far as the eye can see are a sight for sore eyes. I have decided that it is time to begin planning the next stage of my life. After getting outside of the country I want to do more international travel. I now have a new goal of reaching the southern tip of South America. The trip to the bottom of South America will be the most ambitious ride that I have ever undertaken. But I am up for the challenge. I plan to depart on the 5th of August riding down the mountains all the way from the Arctic Sea. This journey will extend for more than 20,000 miles and take more than a year. Along on the journey is my adopted daughter Rosa. I will be homeschooling her on the road. She will be joining me on a sidecar. The logistics are set and only a week to go. Things could not be more exciting. As I ride down through the cold mountains of Alaska I can’t comprehend the changes that will occur the next year. From the snows of the great ranges to the dry deserts of the Atacama both my bike and family will be tested but I believe that we will all grow and leave this trip better people. The variety of cultures that we will meet and interactive will be amazing. My daughter is most excited for the llamas while I am looking forward to seeing her learn and grow as we venture south.
