Tallinn is so wonderful it should be a World Heritage Site. It Is!
Perched high on a hill and fortified with turrets and tourist shops stands Tallinn.
A guided tour of two hours revealed that Estonians had a very successful and bloodless revolution from he Russians called the Singing Revolution. Over 150,000 people gathered in 1980 and sang songs that were Estonian and not on the communist party's Approved list. They got away with it and so they kept singing Estonian and the rest as they say in History
The town of Tallinn has the "three lions" as their crest so now we know where he FA stole the idea.
This is the home of Skype, it is an Estonian invention and WiFi is available even at bus stops.
We are staying at the 1980 Moscow Olympics sailing venue in Pirita and it looks a little worse for wear. I hope that the London Olympics sailing venue in Weymouth will look smart and vibrant in 35 years time.
One passing thought before we head off to the Russian border is that Tallinn was the first town in the world with a public Christmas tree. They can never take that away from them.
