Vladivostok,Korea and Canada
We leave the train and take the plane. After a 36 hour train journey we arrived in Vladivostok. At 4 in the morning. So we found a hotel near the station and crashed.
We had finally made it all the way across Russia and we could see the Pacific ocean for the first time. But it was shrouded in mist. Never Mind. We had made it. 11,000 miles, 8 time zones and a few adventures too.
The next day we were on the web to book our flight to the US or Canada. However it was soon to be 4th July so the prices were high. Lots of Koreans celebrate then. Maybe we should wait till prices come down.
But on the 4th of July itself the prices were low because everyone was at home, not flying. So we found the Korean Air office and booked our flight to Vancouver.
We had a great surprise when Evgeniy rode on his motorcycle down from Kharbarovsk to Vladivostok to see us. He is the chap we gave the bike to. As we were leaving the shed back in Never, that had the bike under cover, three Russian bikers arrived to grab some tea. They came over and said how sad it was and what were we doing next. We said that the bike had come to its end and we made a present of the bike to them. Evgeniy took charge and soon we were getting a lift to the train station and the lads had a motorcycle to sort out.
He came to Vladivostok to let me know that the bike got to his home on a car low-loader heading East, empty.
So he came with his wife Dasha and his son Andrew to meet us and say goodbye, inviting us back to ride our/his bike again.
We had supper and visited the sailing club and a new University campus completed with Chinese money. It's very impressive.
So off to Korea and then Canada. Landing in Seoul was a shock as everything is clean, neat and actually works.
In Vancouver we took the coach to the ferry port and soon we were on Victoria on Vancouver island.
The wonderful Phil Clark picked us up and gave us a warm welcome.
Our body-clocks were way out but we recovered quickly with his hospitality.
We had a lovely visit to the pub to see the World Cup and his local beach as well as a wonderful supper on his boat.
Scouring the internet, while our clothes were washed properly for the first time in months, we found a motorbike in San Francisco that would get us round the world.
We flew to Dubbelju Rentals in San Francisco and collected the new bike.
