Trans Siberian Railway
Now we take an enforced journey on the Trans Siberian Railway.
We had to take the pragmatic decision to leave our beloved bike with 3 nice Russian bikers. It is 450 kms back to Chita and 1200kms to Kharbarovsk where we might find a bearing for the gearbox or we might get one sent in. There really is nothing here for hundreds of miles.
Adventure travellers always say it is best to go with the flow and enjoy the new turn of fate. To fight circumstances will be tough and lead to a spoilt journey. So we go with the flow and get a lift to the railway station 20 kms away.
All train times in Russia are to Moscow time. So our train time says it arrives at 10:28 so that is 4:28 in the afternoon.
Rishino train station.
Here is Sam being treated by Elena, our "provodnitsa", she who must be obeyed.she has the keys to the in-coach Samovar.
The train is only a little late and there are about 20 commuters who take the train 100 kms back home. We are greeted by the carriage hostess and shown to a 4 berth bunk bed compartment. It's clean and modern.

There is a samovar at the end of the carriage and we get tea or coffee.
Supper is rice and fish or chicken or pork. There is one communal loo at the front of the carriage and it is locked when. We get to the station. I wonder why? There is not much sophistication to Russian Plumbing. It's straight through to floor.
Our journey is 36 hours to Vladivostok and 16 to Kharbarovsk. So plenty of time to meet our new room mates and see Russia slide by slowly.
