HELLO ITALY

Going up Mount Cenis was fairly easy, good road surface, wide flowing bends. At the summit we stopped for a drink, it was still very hot and poor old Rocket was in need of water too. On the way down the views just got better the lakes were a deep blue in colour and very inviting for a swim, but ice-cold i would bet. We soon reached the border and did not see any kind of customs or border control. As we started to get nearer the bottom the roads got better and we passed thru many small villages. I then went thru a large town and came upon a motorway junction, i decided to use the motorway as i wanted to get my tent set up in daylight. The traffic was a bit mad and heavy in places but you can still get on at a decent pace. I was using both Maps and Sat-Nav to find my way around but i did get confused after i came off the motorway. After awhile i was winging away on a nice bendy road thru the mountains heading for the rally site. I was hoping i would be able camp at the site if not i would have to find a place to camp. I arrived in the town of Verra and started to look for signs for the rally, with no joy. As luck would have it the guy i asked directions from was a biker, spoke good English and drew me a map showing the way to the site, i was only five minutes away. On my arrival some of the organisers showed me the camping place, a small field with a bit of shade and awesome view of mountains, a fortress, and a large cross witch was light up at night. The bike unloaded, tent up, tea made and drunk it was time to cook the evening meal. The meal tonight was to be Army boil in the bag rations, which i found to be good to eat and quick to cook plus all the other stuff in the pack was useful.
