In Saltillo
What a dayHI. We went across the border at McAllen. With the help of the police, I got to the right spot. By the time I saw Temporary Entry Permit station - I was by it. The border entry paperwork went well. Within an hour, we were on our way. We got there early (730 am).
Took 40 (D) to Monterrey and then around to Saltillo. Cost was around $40.00 US.
Got into Saltillo and it was busy. I had no clue where I was. Mainly, it takes a while to get your bearings. Street signs may be difficult to find. Streets may change names at dividing points. Some streets may seem similar in name (Benito Juarez vs. Presdent Juarez). Larger towns have significant traffic, a lots of one ways to manage traffic congestion. In my case, I always needed to go the opposite direction. Suggestion: pulll over and take a break.
Decided to Stop and a gentleman assisted me. I was using Lonely Planet and a GPS. The hotel was pretty well hidden. But, worth the hunt. Visited the government office, park and Cathedral. Had a nice dinner.
Tomorrow will head out on HWY 54 to Zacatecas. See you all soon! Weather is 95 degrees.
