Update
Holy molly, skimming tree tops, and crocks and buzzards looking for dinner-ITS COSTA RICA. We crossed the border into Costa Rica from Nicaragua without incident.
We ultimately made our way to La Fortuna near Arenal Volcano.
Arenal Valcano is majestic and still very active.
Based upon a 3 to 1 vote, we went to do a zip line. I wanted to watch TV. Antonio was our instructor. We graduated from the safety class 3 minutes later. It took that long because Antonio repeated himself twice. Antonio called me Papa. I called him Pedro. He advised me that it would scare the crap out of me. I advised him that my lunch would cause that.
Well here we go!!!!!
We reached speeds of 40-45 mph. There were 10 to 12 tree platforms. Thats the trick. If you dont like it, thats to bad. There is no turning back.
The trees are tall and some of the lines were pretty long. There are faster and longer ones, however, this was just fine.
Here are the crocks. Can you see the leash.
It had to be 90-100 degrees inside the canopy of the jungle. We were sweating after l hour and 15 minutes of flying above the jungle canopy. It was worth it.
Once we finished we hit the pool. It was heated and the drinks were great.
Graham got the idea of going down a slide. Another stupid idea. I didnt realize I was following the wrong tube. Jumped in and almost killed myself. Safety is a big issue here. Also, I didnt realize that you went into an enclosed tube. It was enclosed because to keep you from flying over the edges. This was the first time that I rode the bottom, side and TOP of the CEMENT tube. Also, the tube did not go into the water. It released you into the air-about 6 to 8 feet above the water. Graham said I looked like a pregnant cow giving birth when I exited the tube. All I know is when I hit the water I felt I gave birth. I was sore the next day.
The next day we went to a water park. It was great. It had about 10 different pools. They varied in temperature - 75 degrees to 152 degrees!!!!!
Another pool.
They had a huge Jacuzzi. It had great massaging water jets. All pools had water falls that just beat warm or hot water on you shoulders - dinner included ($24.00 per person). It was a relaxing day.
Next stop will be Dominical, Costa Rica.
