Ueber Weihnachten und Neujahr bleiben wir in Ushuaia und haben jede Menge Spass.

Christmas and New Year we are spending in Ushuaia and we are having lots of fun.

Im neuen Jahr starten wir mit 9 Motorraedern um ueber eine kleine Grenze nach Chile zu fahren. Alles stimmt, eine perfekte Piste schwingt sich durch eine traumhafte Landschaft. Zwischen den Grenzposten gibt es einen kleinen Fluss zu ueberqueren bis es am Ende des Tages zu regen anfaengt.

Together with 9 bikes we start in the new year to cross the little boarder back to Chile. A perfect day of riding on a scenic gravelroad, a watercrossing between the boarders and then it started to rain for the night bushcamp.

In Povinier nehmen wir die Faehre nach Punta Arenas, wo sich die Wege unserer kleinen Reisegruppe wieder trennen.

From Povenier to Punta Arenas we took the ferry and then the little group split up again.

Wir bleiben ein paar Tage, da wir ein Lager wechseln muessen, dass wir von Santiago bestellen. Zu unserem Glueck kommt Hubert vorbei. BMW Santiago kann uns naemlich nur ein Lager schicken und Hubert hat zufaellig auch eins im Gepaeck und hat das Lager an seiner BMW auch schonmal gewechselt. Gemeinsam fahren wir in den National Park Torres del Paine. Am Lago Azul haben wir einen wunderschoenen Blick auf die Torres.

We stay for a couple of days in Punta Arenas. We have to change a bearing that we have to order from Santiago. Unfortunately BMW Santiago has just one bearing. But fortunately we met Hubert he also had one bearing and he knows how to change it. Together we rode to the Torres del Paine National Park. At the Lago Azul we had an amazing view on the Torres.

Und gleich weiter zur naechsten Atraktion. Den Perito Moreno Gletscher schauen wir uns natuerlich auch an. Auf dem Weg dorthin muessen wir einen Platten flicken. Dabei sehen wir, das Werner's Reifen ein Loch im Mantel hat, das langsam immer groesser wird. Auf dem Weg ueber die Ruta 40 nach Gobernador Gregoris drueckt sich der Schlauch langsam durch. Das sieht gar nicht gut aus. Wir suchen uns eine Werkstatt die uns den Reifen flicken. Mittlerweile sind es 5 Loecher.

And straight to the next atraction. The Perito Moreno Glacier. We spend a couple of hours to see the ice break off. On the way we had to fix a flat tyre. There we noticed that the tyre has a hole through the carcass. On the way via the ruta 40 to Gobenador Gregoris the tube was pushing through the hole. It dosen't look pretty. In a tyre repair shop we got it fixed. By now there are 5 holes.

Durch das Chacabuco Tal fahren wir ueber den Paso Rodolfo Roballo nach Chile zur Careterra Austral. Von Cochrane fahren wir durch eine Bilderbuchlandschaft nach Puerto Tranquilo und schauen uns die Marmorhoehlen an. In Coyhaike gibt es fuer Werner dann endlich einen neuen Reifen, den wir uns aus Osorno haben schicken lassen.
Weiter oben auf der Caretera Austral schauen wir uns den haengenden Gletscher an.

Via the Chacabuco Valley we cross over the Rodolfo Roballo Pass back into Chile to ride the Caretera Austral. From Cochrane we rode along blue lakes a beautiful scenery to Puerto Tranquilo to see the marble caves. In Coyhaike we pick up a new tire for Werner. The tire got sent down from Osorno.

In El Bolson fahren wir zu Klaus und Claudia. Die Beiden, waren 16 Jahre mit den Motorraedern unterwegs. Auf ihrem Bauernhof helfen wir ein paar Tage mit. Der Zaun muss verstaerkt, das Kartoffelfeld angehaeufelt werden. Mit Hubert und Martina sind wir eine richtig gutes Team und haben jede Menge Spass.

In El Bolson we visit a german couple who has been traveling on bikes around the world for 16 years. For a couple of days we are helping to fix the fence and in the potato field. With Hubert and Martina it's a lot of fun.

In Osorno will Werner sein Lenkkopflager wechseln, aber was die sich da zusammen stuempern ist ohne Worte. Gott sei dank hat der Mechaniker schnell die Lust verloren und Werner konnte es dann alleine wechseln.

In Osorno Werner changed his steeringhead bearing. Fortunately the mechanic lost interest. He was sooooo... useless. So Werner did it himself.

Ueber den Pumalin Park fahren wir runter nach Chaiten von wo wir mit dem Schiff nach Chiloe fahren wollten. ABer leider gibt es keine Tickets mehr und die Faehre faehrt nur einmal in der Woche. Als wir am Abend dann auf Ben und Lila treffen die morgen mit dem Schiff nach Puerto Montt fahren sind wir kurzentschlossen auch auf dem Schiff. Zum Glueck gab es diesemal noch Tickets.

Through the Pumalin Park we rode to Chaiten. There we wanted to catch the ferry to Chiloe but it was booked out. And the freey leaves just once a week.
On the campsite in the Pumalin Park we met Ben and Lila again . Tomorrow they go on the Ferry to Puerto Mont so we decided to join them. And this time we are lucky we got Tickets.

Ben und Lila haben Freunde in Puerto Montt und laden uns ein mit ihnen zu kommen.
Als wir in Puerto Mont ankommen und zu uneren Motorraedern gehen liegt Werner's auf der Seite. Da hat schon jemand versucht sein Motorrad loszumachen. Spiegel und Handprotektor kaputt und Lenker krum :-(. Also zur Schadensaufnahme ins Buero.
Um 23.00 Uhr kommen wir dann endlich bei German und Claudia an.

Ben and Lila visited friends in Puerto Montt and they invited us to come with them. When we arrived in Puertp Mont someone had taken the straps of Werners bike and it was on the floor. Mirror and handguard broken and handelbar bend. How nice. To get the damage rcoverd we go to the office and leave with some stamps and signatures. At 23 o'clock we are finaly at German's and Claudia's place.

Eigentlich wollten wir am Morgen weiterfahren aber wir werden ueberredet zu bleiben und wir sind froh das wir geblieben sind, es regnet den ganzen Tag. German hat uns die Umgebung gezeigt und den Tag haben wir feucht froehlich beendet.

Actually we wanted to leave in the morning but we got convinced to stay. And we were glad that we did. It was raining all day. German showed us the surroundings and we finished the day with a few drinks.

Morgens kommen wir dann natuerlich nicht so frueh aus dem Bett wie gedacht.
In Osorno gehen wir Tomas besuchen. Werner und er sind entfernt Verwandt. Tomas verwaltet den Bauernhof fuer seine Eltern. Er zeigt uns den Bauernhof und ab jetzt ist Grass nicht mehr gleich Grass. Ab jetzt ist Grass, Proteine und Zucker gutes ober schlechtes Futter. Am Morgen muss allen Kuehen Blut abgenommen werden. Ich darf auch mal Blut abnehmen. Leider laeuft uns die Zeit weg und wir wollen in Temuco noch bei Hans und Eliane vorbei den Eltern von Tomas. Wir werden unglaubich freundlich aufgenommen. Gerne waeren wir auch hier laenger gebilieben.

The next morning we did not start as early as expected. In Osorno we visit Tomas. He and Werner are somehow related. Tomas looks after the farm of his parents and shows us around. From know on grass is not equal grass. It is sugar and proteins, good or bad food for cattle. In the morning a vet has to take blood of all cows and I get to take some blood as well.
Unfortunately we are running out of time so we head to Temuco were Tomas parents live. We are made very welcome, we spend the day with them and would have liked to stay a little longer.

New career???

Jetzt sind wir mal wieder in Valparaiso in der Villa. Die Motorraeder brauchen ein bisschen Pflege, das ein oder andere gibt es zu reparieren. So vergehen die Tage wie im Flug. Und es sind jede Menge nette Leute hier.

We are back in Valparaiso again. In the Villa. The bikes need a bit of attention and some thinks we have to fix.The time fly's and there is lots of nice company.
