Friday 27th
Still freezing in the morning and hat at mid dayFriday the 27th.
Things just keep getting better. Woke up at 6 at opened door. Went back to bed, it was freezing. Got up at seven and had a coffee then got bike and packed. Was wearing everything I had, thermals, sweat shirt, t shirt, liner in jacket, jacket and waterproofs over the top and was still chilly on the bike. 6000 feet above sea level I suppose is nearly space. 8 o'clock ish was on the road headed West, picked up the old 66 and lost it again by luck managed to stay on it. $0 miles of free way so turned off through the petrified forest park. Stopped for a coffee at 8-30 and paid 5 dollars to enter the park. Absolutely brilliant, was there until two o'clock.
Came out of the park and turned right, more luck than judgement took me back to the 66 at Holbrook where the Wigwam Motel is. Even gets better, got one, a wigwam mane of concrete to stay in for the night and then went and had food at Joe and Aggies Cafe. If you are as sad as me you will have read about these 2 famous landmarks on the 66.
When you manage to find the 66 it is and amazing place, like Sheppey, Leysdown in a time warp, all neon signs and glitzy though.
