Sunny day out

Jo’burg
Finally stopped raining, so got brave and headed North towards Hartbeestpoort Dam.

Fantastic ride through mountains with long sweeping bends and no surprises for 50 odd km, lake was really full and lots spilling out. Met a couple of others touring on the dam wall

and a chat about places to see and places to stay. Headed off through a short tight tunnel and stopped for some food, the local spicy sausage roll, brilliant with a cream soda, real stuff green. Rode on around the lake which is a lovely green colour, and saw a sign for the cradle of mankind so turned left.
Several tens of kilometres of nice road later arrived at a T junction and nearly back in Jo’burg turned left and followed the signs to the Sterkfontien, some of the oldest human fossils if not the oldest ever found. Being a heathen, I was more interested in the limestone caves, great on your hands and knees, sliding on your bottom to see stalagmite’s and stalactite’s one looks just like an elephant. After an hour in the dark, quick ice-cream headed out for Roodepoorte through the rush hour, racing the rain following me. Got to the house dry and got rained on as I arrived at the gate of the house. Timed to perfection.
