Into Botswana

Travellers tales???Sure some people who travel the world do it from an armchair, Johns advice is and was spot on but to the 3 lads at the ferry thanks but not sure you travelled my route, There is petrol stations every 200km between the ferry and Francistown max distance. Anyway back to me.

Left Livingstone and got to Kazengula ferry for 10. Wish every border was this efficient, out of Zambia in 15 minutes, down to ferry, me on first down the middle being waved on by lorries one other lorry, off other end up to Botswana border and through in 5 minutes 150 Pula lighter for 3rd party bike insurance and that was it.
Road was good surface for 100k, strange things, lay bye on road with big signs saying it was a wild life area so stop at your own risk, had to stop for a picture (To follow) 300 km of almost straight road was glad for the road works, deviations were tarmac and hard to keep speed down but police made that easier.
Stopped for foot and mouth control, had to take all shoes out so had to unpack bike to wipe soles on a mat.
Really lost the plot by 2-00 pm trying to ride and watch for animals including elephants, one on road, so remembered advice, dominate the thing do not back down, do not show fear I am the boss. Stopped half a kilometer back from it and let the lorries I had overtaken past, slotted in the middle and rode through with them as a escort. Lorry driver was laughing behind me. Went past the front one and stayed nearby incase but he was needed again. he was not.

Got to Nata and headed for the Nata Lodge, wery posh but knackered so pulled in for a bath, first one in Africa, showers loads of. Had dinner and paid the bill, my secret only issue was the sand roads and thorns like you would not believe. Sand was above the rims in places, took some very careful riding and was glad to find tarmac again. At walking pace the back wheel was sliding about in second gear pull aways, I have decided I hate sand.

Left Nata and headed the 200Km to Francistown, bends at last not many but some. Once again just a ride some good some bad roads, all of the junctions are torn up quite badly and potholed. Arrived and rode staight to campsite, saw chalets and guess what, posh bed again.
