Maine back to New Hampshire

Sunday 19th July
Warm and cloudy again today, a short ride to Arcadia National park where are annual pass came in handy again. A very beautiful place to ride and as its Sunday and holiday season very busy as well.
From there we went to Bar Harbor for lunch, I tried some lobster as so many people have said its the best, sadly it was not a patch on any I have had in England.

After lunch we rode on to Fort Knox State Park to have a look at the fort and also a bridge where you can go up a lift in one of the support towers for a great view. The fort was fantastic as you could just wander around and get totally lost in all the tunnels, the only light being day light that filters through from the slots in the walls that they used to fire through at us Brits.

Monday 20th July
Today started off damp and misty after a stormy night, It was not long before it warmed up and by the time we were in New Hampshire it was in the high 80's and very humid. It was a slow ride as its getting very built up, lots of little towns and villages to ride through. Also after about 170 miles I was struggling to stay awake so we decided to find a place to stay. We were near what was going to be a stop on route so we were happy to stay where we were.

Tuesday 21st July
We got up early so we could beat the heat and the other tourists to Diana's Bath / Waterfalls,
It was a short hike through the woods to the falls and we had a great time climbing about the rocks and rock pools in amongst the waterfalls. We weren't the first there and by the time we were ready to hit the road the temperature was rising and lots of people were arriving.

We stopped off in Andover NH for an ice cream before pushing on towards Salem Massachusetts, it was another slow hot ride but it's really good to see all the small towns and villages. It's hard work when they have such slow speed limits about 3 miles before and after the town. On a road that size in England it would 60mph or worst 50mph yet here they are between 35, 30 and even 25mph and you know there hiding somewhere waiting for a speeding motorist.
