Yellowstone

Tuesday 16th June
We had one hell of a storm last night, thankfully it has finished and the good old sun is out this morning. I really don't feel like sitting on anything today let alone my bike as my hips and butt ache from the horse riding. As its to expensive to stay here in Jackson we have decided upon a short 90 mile ride to Idaho Falls for a cheap night and a bit of RnR before riding through Yellow Stone and on to Montana.

Wednesday 17th June
We left Idaho falls heading for Yellowstone quite early it was another sunny but cool day and a bee decided to fly up my sleeve and sting me, I stopped and stupidly quickly pulled the sting out. Wrong you are supposed to flick it out as squeezing it between your fingers injects more in to you, it felt like I had been stung again as I pulled it out.
we were only staying near Yellowstone for one night as it's such a tourist trap, and priced accordingly. Before checking in we rode in to Yellowstone and to old faithful. The national park annual pass is really paying off now as it was $40 for a bike and passenger and were planning on going in again tomorrow. The ride to the old faithful geyser took nearly an hour to do 16 miles. Arriving at old faithful should not of been a shock but it was, there is a massive hotel and visitor centre complex and around the geyser are rows of benches packed with people waiting for it to go off, luckily we only had to wait a few minutes and found a spot at the front but we had to sit on the floor. As Marcia put all her weight on her right arm to sit her shoulder went pop giving her that feeling of pain that makes you feel faint, she went quite pale, she sat it out to watch the geyser go, After old faithful had blown we decided to head back to the motel, maybe even stop off at a medical centre, the only one we found said she would have to make an appointment for 11 tomorrow morning. We looked up hospitals and the nearest was 60 miles away so she decided to see how it was in the morning. We found a Pub restaurant that was serving a selection of locally brewed beers. They had weird names but tasted pretty good, you were also allowed a taster for free to help you make your choice.

Also found out today that one of my cards has been cloned and a $1000 dollars stolen. The post office travel money card is turning out to be the least best option and would not recommend it to anyone. I have been on the phone to them as they had blocked these transactions once then 2 days later let them through, they are saying it's my fault as I did not answer my phone. I now have to wait 45 days for them to resolve the situation. It's very annoying but I am sure eventually I will get the money back but not until I return to the UK. After reading their terms and conditions online I phoned them back and threw a wobbly at them, they disagreed and said that I was wrong even though I had the terms and conditions in front of me.

Thursday 18th June
5 O'Clock this morning the post office phoned me to tell me that they will return the money to my second card. As we were woken early it was difficult to get back to sleep and as Marcia had aggravated her shoulder yesterday and I have a swollen arm from a bee sting we decided we did not want to ride loads of miles in Yellowstone stuck behind cars driving at 5 mph as they take pictures and have no awareness of any other vehicles on the road especially over taking MC's. And we were both feeling pretty rough we headed for Helena hoping to get a motel for at least a night and rest up. By the time we had checked in to a motel Marcia was feeling a lot better. My bee sting was getting bigger, we had also stopped off at a chemist who recommended taking antihistamine and hopefully it will feel better tomorrow.

Friday 19th June
Not feeling to good arm is not as swollen but is still very red and hot and has spread. Thinking of going to hospital about my arm but decided to leave it as We were riding to meet Bill and Julie who had contacted us through the ADV forum. We were not there long before Julie (a nurse) insisted I go to see a doctor and not to go to the ER at hospital but to a walk in clinic and told us which one to go to. We were not at the clinic to long just over an hour. Doctor said I have cellulitis, sent me away with a prescription for antibiotics and steroids, told to rest, keep out of the sun and if it gets worse come straight back for an IV drip of antibiotics.
