Blue Springs

Sunday 15 February
Rode to Blue Springs National state park today hoping to do some more canoeing, but canoeing, diving and swimming are restricted until March. As this is where the manatee winter at the head of the springs. They are an endangered species as they are being killed off by good old humans and our power boats they get injured by the speed boats as they swim very close to the surface and the propellers cut them up, many have scars from propeller injuries well the survivors do. We took a few pics of them but they don't do them justice, we also got to see our first swimming alligator. Apparently alligators don't attack the slow moving Manatee not even the young.

We decided to head off to Daytona Beach Flea and Farmers market. There was 3 miles of indoor and outdoor shops and stalls, I think we walked through about half a mile it's just insanely big out here compared to the UK, it's been very hot again today with a nice cool breeze. There were a few more bikes out on the roads today, but still surprisingly few for such perfect biking weather, also there is a distinct lack of bug splat on my visor. Here in Florida, there's quite a lot of cruisers and a few chops, also a lot of Jap bikes built like drag race bikes with stretched rear swing arms. They look out of place burbling along in the traffic the rider with no helmet or gloves deafeningly loud even at 55mph. I've only ever seen bikes like these on the drag strip at Santa Pod or Avon park.
We're thinking of going back to Wekiwa tomorrow as we really enjoyed the canoeing there and thought we might go a lot further this time.

Monday 16th February
Lazy day by the pool today it was just too hot for canoeing. But looking like rain tomorrow so might of been a mistake.
