Update
Thursday 12th February
Well that was probably not one of our brightest ideas. We were recommended a restaurant / bar called "fish on fire" that had live music on a Thursday evening. So we googled it and it looked ok, and as it was only a mile down the road we decided to walk. We have been told by many people that you can't walk anywhere in American towns and city's and less than halfway there the pavement just stopped. Didn't stop us though and we made it there and back. We are planning on going canoeing at Wekiwa springs tomorrow based on another recommendation from the locals.Friday the 13th
We just spent 5 hours chasing around trying to find a bank machine that will work with the Pre paid debit cards that are supposed to be the best way of taking your cash abroad nowadays. WRONG when we found a bank that works with them they charge $5 for the service.
So our plan to go canoeing today has been postponed until tomorrow.
I am also struggling the petrol stations and filling up as our cards don't work in them so we are having to go in and pay for the fuel and then fill up. Which seems very odd.
Took a walk out to a Denny's Diner tonight and then stopped off at the local bar and got chatting to the locals had a good night drinking Bourbon talking bikes and music to a local biker named Matt. Crossing the road out here is freaky never know which way to look especially as they can turn right on a red. I think they expect you to sprint across the roads as you get a count down timer, as soon as you get the go ahead to cross.
Saturday 14th brrrrrrr
Cold today still clear blue skies but temperature dropped to 55°F and we had a chilly ride to Wekiwa springs state park. took a canoe out for a couple of hours, the water was crystal clear and not very fast flowing which is just as well as I think we would of struggled if it was. Marcia spotted an Aligator basking in the sun and we paddled up quite close to it well close enough.
Saw lots of turtles getting a tan too.
Love this sign, find it hard to believe anyone would go swimming the waters way to cold.
Warmed up now about 65°F
Stopped off for a steak dinner on the way back to the hotel. Feeling rather stuffed now.
I am getting quite used to the lazy riding that seems to be the norm over here and the BMW is proving to of been a good choice for the trip. It's amazing how few bikes are out on the roads.
