Update

Tuesday 10th February
After our first ride on the streets of Florida we decided to try our first of probably many waffles, waffles, bacon and maple syrup sounds very odd but was also vey good. We also had a plan of staying up late hoping to readjust our body clocks by going out for a drink at a local bar just down the road from our motel. We just had a couple of drinks and felt a bit pissed straight away, so did not manage to stay up as late as we planned but at least we slept till about 5:30 which is much better than 2:00.
Wednesday 11th February
We went for a ride to day and paid a visit to a couple of bike shops. Made a point of asking about some of the rules and regs for riding on the roads out here.
And yes filtering or lane splitting as they call it out here is frowned upon, and apparently in every state, we then headed off to another bike shop at Daytona beach. Got my self a bit lost and ended up on a bloody toll road to God knows where. We then ended up on an interstate highway (I think) and at times a speed limit of 70mph (a pleasant surprise) never quite sure what lane to be in and the speed limit would keep changing anywhere from 55 through to 70 in 5mph increments. Vehicles seem to be quite happy to overtake or undertake and swerve from lane to lane without any indication.

71°F and clear blue sky all day. Perfect biking weather, not many bikes on the roads though.

For the Ride back we avoided motorways and by the time we got back I was beginning to feel a little more comfortable with the American roads, and the way they drive out here. I like the way you are able to turn right at a red light but it does feel very weird and I keep expecting to hear the wail of a police siren every time I do it, also freaks me out when vehicles join from the right when you are riding through a green light.
Thursday 12th February
A typical tourist day as to day we went on an airboat ride at Boggy Creek. Which was OK but our captain of the airboat was happier just to sit there talking instead of belting around the swamps on the airboat but we did get to to see an alligator basking in the sun and quite close up too, wasn't sure if it was real at first as it just lay there looking at us. image.jpg
It was even hotter today and the locals think it's cold and keep telling us there is a real cold front coming for the weekend. We're not sure if they are just trying to wind us up or if they're serious.

If they're right we might just have to have a few beers and sit in the hot tub all day.
