Thursday 29th Oct.

Not a good nights sleep the constant roar from the ocean and a little rain early in the morning was hard to sleep through. Got up early thought it be a good Idea to pack up before it started raining again. That went wrong as soon as I had collapsed the tent the heavens opened and I got soaked packing up the tent despite having the protection of the tree I camped under, perhaps I should of left the tent up and stayed the day but it was to late for that now. Once packed I set off about 9 O'clock and the rain got heavier and I got colder and wetter. The water finding its way up my sleeves, ankles and down my neck. I saw a sign for Piroa Falls 6km, I thought it's  got to be worth a look only 6km detour. It was a great ride along some gravel and occasionally muddy roads and I found the pathway to the falls, a set of steep wood and mud steps through the forest, the rain had not eased at all and I couldn't be bothered to walk down the steep steps in all my water proofs so I thought I would have to settle for googling it when I got a chance. [PHOTO_ID_L=piroa-falls.jpg] I set off back up the track and made it to a town called Wellsford where I decided enough is enough, I saw a sign for a motel and thought forget the budget and got my self a room so I could warm up and dry off. Good job too as one of the panniers was filling up with water, luckily no damage done as I had packed everything important into my dry bags, also the water had been working its way up from the base of my jacket and my camera I keep in my pocket was also wet, its now drying out in front of a fan as well as everything else, I think it will be fine I don't think the water has got inside it. I will leave it until the morning before I turn it on.

Feeling warmer and dryer now, I have recharged all my gadgets and gizmos. Need to go find some grub and recharge myself so it looks like i'm going to get wet again as its still chucking it down.

Didn't have to go far for a bite and a pint, fish and chips and a pint, now i'm fully recharged too.
