USA Cargo Customs

Note to self "never listen to all the pessimists"
Got a cab from the hotel this morning gave the cabbie the address and he asked me if I knew where it was? I Said "I had put it in my sat nav and it looked like it was only a few miles down the road" so we used that to find it. They had not been open more than a few minutes we walked in to the cargo customs, a guy came out asking if he could help, I explained why we were there and showed him all the paperwork I was told to bring, to which he replied "we do not need all of that all I need is the airway bill and your vin number and I will do the rest" I handed him the airway bill he filled in all the forms and then asked me if I could read him the vin number from the log book as the print was to small and he would have to go and get his glasses. He told us that the freight yard was next door and we would have to go out on to the road and walk round, then sent us on our way. Walked in to the freight office and again we were met with are we have been trying get hold of you as your motorcycle has been here for ages and will start incurring storage charges from today. I explained to the that James Cargo had shipped it out early because of a trade embargo. They knew nothing of any trade embargo and we all agreed that they just wanted it out of there ware house.
Again I did not need to fill out any forms just show them the relevant ID pay the storage costs via a bank order not by card or cash. When they realised we had no transport they let us pay by cash. Then I asked them about getting the bike out of the crate and they offered to help. As for tools we needed now as the bike was on a pallet with a very week wooden frame and covered in cardboard. In no time atall we were on our way. image.jpg

Think this fork lift could do with some fresh rubber

It's lovely and warm to today although very windy. Very glad I brought my summer bike gear with throw over water proofs. The locals don't seem to appreciate the English style of motorcycle riding, think I need to find out if filtering is legal in Florida as they keep blasting their mega loud horns at me. I did filter pass a police car and did not get stopped. And We have been watching other bikes just sit in the traffic.
Took a visit to the local Walmart and also a petrol station and used our debit cards and found out that they don't use the chip and pin or require signatures for payment.
