Saturday 28th March
Rode over London Bridge, it looked ever so small I think it must of shrunk in the heat. Or perhaps they lost a few bits in the post. Took a few pics and then took a ride around the island that the bridge connects.

Sunday 29th March
We only had a short ride of just over a 100 miles but travelled through 3 states. Californian, Arizona and Nevada, we stopped off for a while in Oatman, an old mining town on Route 66 which now survives purely on tourism.

The road was quite bumpy but a very enjoyable ride, most of it twisty narrow mountain road. On the road out of Oatman we got stuck behind 3 Harley riders who either couldn't ride or just decided that they were not going to let us pass. I was very patient and as soon as I got a safe opportunity I passed 2 of them, then the one at front moved over to let us pass. We arrived at Laughlin hot and tired and then queued for ages twice to check in as we went to the check in desk with the sign above that said check in but that was not the check in desk. One of the drawbacks to the $18 a night was $10 a night for wifi so no wifi for a couple of days won't hurt and there is always McDonald's lol.
We had a ground floor room near the entrance to both pools. Once checked in a trip to Walmarts for some supply's then feet up for a couple of days.

Best laid plans an all that, I had what I thought was a good route planned to take us to Barstow California via Kelso most of it on the old Route 66 but 3 times we were diverted as there were road closed signs at the junction and the road was blocked but on the third the road wasn't completely blocked so we decided to give it a go after about 10 miles the road was blocked but there was a make shift gravel road that bypassed the road block this happened another 2 times, but it had messed up our planned route. The main road to Kelso was riddled with large pot holes and there get out of jail free card was a sign declaring this is an unmaintained road. We then found ourselves low on fuel as we had to bypass a lot of the towns due to the road closures so we cut across to the nearest fuel station via the interstate highway and got ripped off as petrol was up from $2.28 a gallon to $3.99 so we only put enough in to get us where we needed and hopped back on to Route 66 this stretch was very run down and rougher than a dirt track, derelict buildings with the occasional occupied building. I can't see this section of Route 66 being around much longer.
