The longest flight ever
Country
No problems on the flights to NZ apart from the length of time sat on a plane. It was a bit of a rush at Singapore as the first flight was a little late in and it took nearly half an hour to find and walk to the gate for the second flight and there was only and hour difference between arrival and departure. But no waiting around got straight on the plane. Arrived in New Zealand on time and sailed through customs. John picked me up from the airport and does not live far from it so by about 1 we were cracking open some beers, 5:30 in the morning we decided to knock it on the head and get some zzzz's in.
Saturday 17th Oct.
Got up reasonably early in the attempt to try and reset my body clock but feel like I am still on the plane, or on a boat it feels like the floor is moving. Had a look at the bike I've bought and it certainly looks like I've got a reasonable deal but don't feel up to riding yet might go for a ride tomorrow if the floor stops moving. Went for a drive around with John today and to stock up with some more beer. First impressions of NZ are good. The roads are not busy a very clean and well kept town here in Browns Bay, empty beaches and clean air, the weather is not brilliant but its dry and warmer than UK right now with warmer weather forecast, the Kiwi's can't wait to take the piss out of a Brit when it comes to the world cup rugby.
Sunday the 18th Oct.
Up early today for the world cup rugby as NZ are playing the French, it was a good game and good fun watching an animated John as the KiWi's kicked the Frenchies butt's. The rest of the day was spent working on the bikes, the suspension on mine had been lowered so i set about raising it back to standard height and thankfully the bike had come with the standard side stand so that was refitted as well. I also fitted the sat nav mount and generally checked the bike over. Took it out for a ride around the block a few times to check it out all seem ok but it won't start when its warm and flattened the battery trying to start it. Stuck it on charge and will have a look at it tomorrow. John was also working on his Kawasaki fitting new coils and points and we also flattened his battery so both batteries are being charged tonight. We took a trip in to Browns Bay for some traditional english food, after having a very decent curry we stopped in for a few beers at speakers corner where they were selling fullers beer but not any beers I had heard of.
Monday the 19th Oct.
After another one of Johns fantastic breakfasts we both got straight in to working on the bikes.
My bike would not start so I decided the battery was in need of replacing so went and got a new one. Once fitted the bike starts fine. John had also sorted his bike out and we then took a short ride to the Suzuki dealers to get a few bits for the bike. They have ordered them in and should be n tomorrow. The weather is still very windy with occasional showers but not cold.
Tuesday 20th Oct.
Woke up to a bright and sunny day, which was handy as we were planning on going for a ride. After breakfast we headed off to Puhoi, we stopped at the Puhoi hotel for a swift half before heading on to Piha on the west cost, the roads were fantastic as well as the scenery. The Suzuki is now running OK, it turned rather chilly as we approached the west coast and also became very overcast and threatend to rain. After stopping for a coffee we headed back to the Suzuki dealers to pick up the parts I had ordered then on to Rothesay Bay and a Pub called the British Isles, where we were greeted by the pubs dog called Guinness and also with more ribbing about our failure in the rugby world cup.
