The Burt Munro Rally
Country
Thursday 26th Nov
A sunny day for a change still windy though, I took a ride down to the Bluff hill climb. Watched a little of the racing but to be honest it was quite boring to watch from the side of the road, there were good collection classic and modern bikes and it was more interesting wandering around the paddock.
Later that evening I walked to a near by pub for a pint and some food and ended up getting very drunk. It was quite busy with a good band playing and everyone was very friendly.
Friday 27th Nov
Paying the price today for last nights drinking. Its not been a bad day none of the rain that was forecast but still very windy. The beach race was supposed to start at 6pm but did not get underway till much later. Practice started at about 7:30. It got quite cold sitting up on the dunes with the wind blowing in off of the sea, the sun was in your eyes and as it dropped so did the temperature. The racing was quite good when it eventually got underway. They also had the replica bike that was used in the film of the worlds fastest indian doing a demonstration run, when they eventually got it going, by the time practice was over the sun was so low it was impossible to take any pictures.
Saturday 28th
The event I was looking forward to the most has been postponed until 4:30 tomorrow due to the weather. I wish I had known that before I got out on the bike. Mind you i'm not that surprised its Horizontal rain down near Oreti Beach. Doubt I will stay long enough tomorrow to see it I have been sitting in one place to long and need to ride.
