Khao Lak & more Visit

In the morning we leave around 7.30am for Khao Lak. Kevin’s uncle and aunt are there on vacation and we don’t mind to drive around a bit so we can meet them (normally we would have gone straight to north Thailand). After a few kilometres we notice something is wrong with the bike, he doesn’t go faster than 60km/h. Unfortunately, it’s Sunday and all the mechanics seem to be closed, so we decide to drive further. We cover about 300km this way until we finally find a mechanic. In the meanwhile Kevin thinks the problem can be caused by the spark plugs, so we will try to replace them. The mechanic sells us a set of spark plugs meant for a scooter. Anyhow, we reach Khao Lak at a normal speed but a bit later then we had hoped. Uncle and Aunt await us in a bar and we have a short chat. Then they take us to a guesthouse which they had booked for us.
When we wake up, we hurry to the beach; it’s been a while now since we could take a swim in the sea. The sea breeze brings some coolness, though the sea water is quite warm. We also bring a visit to the temple in the neighbourhood and on another day we visit the shops in the neighbouring village. In the evening, you can find the four of us sitting in the bar.

Kevin's uncle and aunt noticed a camper on the beach and enquired if it would be possible for us to put the tent here. Apparently we can and so we camp on the perfect spot: beach front, sea view, shade from the palm trees and shower & toilet & internet from the beach restaurant.

On the last night of Uncle and Aunt’s holiday, they treat us with some delicious western food. The owner of the restaurant is from Germany, and he organises a motorbike happening for a charity. He invites us and we promise to be there. The next day we meet up with many bikers at the restaurant.

Ride4Kids

In convoy we drive to an orphanage where we are received by enthusiastic children. The organisation donates one ton of rice and a lot of other stuff, which we help unloading. The children perform a dance to thank the organisation. You can read all about the organisation on www.ride-4-kids.com

When we come back from the orphanage it starts raining cats and dogs. We fear for our tent but the German tells us we can use his bungalow if we encounter any problems. Fortunately we don’t need to use it.
In the evening we go to "Jazz Night' in a fancy restaurant, after paying the entrance we can enjoy the open bar and some snacks. The place is nicely decorated but the music isn’t really jazz.

The last day in Khao Lak we replace the spark plugs with the correct ones, which we have bought here.
