Koh Lanta

In the early afternoon we are back in Ao Nang. We stay for two nights and continue writing on our English blog. Meanwhile, we also think about our next destination. We decide to go to Koh Lanta and on the internet, Kevin finds the beach-to-be. We depart from Ao Nang around noon and two hours and two ferry trips later, we arrive at Khlong Khong Beach. Most resorts are closed or appear abandoned so we walk along the shoreline, looking for a beachfront bungalow. At the first resort that is opened, we see three luxury bungalows on the beach. They resemble our dream bungalow so we are curious about the price. They tell us this bungalow can be ours for about 23 euro! We don’t have to think about this for too long, but Kevin asks for some discount: we offer to stay a little longer and pay immediately for five nights at 18.5 euro/night. This bungalow would cost us 65 euro in high season. We are happy that we can stay in such a superior bungalow now our journey through Thailand is coming to an end. In Malaysia, the accommodations are more expensive so we won’t find something like this anymore.

Our Dream Bungalow

Now we can continue our English blog in our bungalow on the beach. Our table stands in front of a large window overlooking the beach and the ocean.
Klong Khong Beach looks very nice, but because of the low season, there’s almost no one around and many shops remain closed. The restaurants and bars that remain open are very cosy though.
This looks like a nice place to come to in the high season, it reminds us of Arambol Beach in Goa.
Eventually, we pay for three extra nights before leaving to Hat Yai.
