First Day In Malaysia
In Malaysia, our bad luck continues: we cant find any ATM that works with a foreign card and we really need refuelling (which by the way is really cheap here, 0.60 euro / l). At Shell we can pay with our MasterCard, but we cant get any money on top. Shortly after, we have to hide for the rain again. At dark we arrive in Kuala Besut, which lies on the east coast of Malaysia and from here we want to take a boat to the Perhentian Islands, the next day. A man on a scooter asks us if we already have a ticket for the boat and brings us to a travel agency. We inform us about the price but tell them we first want to find a hotel with parking, where we can leave Mickey while going to the island. The man on the scooter tells us we can leave Mickey at his house. We follow him there, but we both dont have a good feeling about it. In the meanwhile, a second man on a scooter is also following us, hes from the travel agency and its really annoying. Eventually we find a hotel, but we still have no money to pay with. Theres no ATM in town, so we ask one of the guys to show us one. We finally have money but the machine gives us only a small amount, although it's enough for a few days. In the meanwhile everything is closed, and even the 7-eleven here has no meals (unlike Thailand). We dont want to go back to the town so we decide to look for a hotel outside the centre. We cant find anything there and while we are looking, it starts to rain cats and dogs. We shelter under a kiosk, but it's already almost 11pm so we decide to drive through the rain, to the hotel we found earlier. The room of the hotel is not exactly pleasant, but for one night it is ok. We can park the bike at the travel agency, which has the same owner as the hotel. We eat some chips and then we go to sleep.
Welcome to Malaysia, what a day !!
