Road To The Border

Our visa for Cambodia almost expires, so we have to go back to Thailand. We still have a few days left so we decide to take a small road to a minor border crossing. We pass by Paillin which is located on the edge of the Cardamom Mountains. We have some nice views along the way and it’s still early, we decide to drive further to the main border crossing at Poipet. Along the way we see many army trucks loaded with people. We are wondering what is going on…

Along the Way

At sunset we arrive at Poipet and it doesn’t take long to find a place to sleep. Poipet is not really a nice place so we decide to grab a bite and visit the local market. Afterwards, we go back to the room and watch some tv. On the news we hear about the illegal Cambodians who are fleeing Thailand out of fear for the Thai army, who have recently taken control over the country in a coup d’état.
In Cambodia we have been eating baguettes almost every day, they are very cheap here and as tasty as at home. Also, we really enjoyed the local soda named Samurai, an energy drink with strawberry flavour. Tomorrow we will leave Cambodia, so we buy a few baguettes and a few Samurai to enjoy them for the last time.
