Laos Summary
Laos can actually be described in one word, echoing what many other travellers have to say about this country: LAID BACK. Although in Asia we never experienced rush and stress, Laos does seem to be the top of the list. While we were driving through the villages, we saw people at home, resting in their hammocks, eating together or just chatting.

Most activity was spotted just before sunset... Who can blame these people, it was very hot under the midday sun.
In Laos, we found the food to be somewhat more expensive than its neighbour Thailand. On the other hand, the accommodations were cheaper. The hotels and rooms were generally very clean.
In Laos they have the habit to charge you for anything, even if you just want to walk across an ordinary wooden walk bridge.
Lao Kip
The Laotians are friendly people. Not many of them speak English. Dont forget to wave to the children in the smaller villages. Laotians love water, everywhere you go you'll find them swimming in the rivers and lakes.
A common Sight in Laos
Laos was definitely nice to drive through and we loved it. The north was really beautiful but not really worth to stay somewhere for a longer time. Si Phan Don was our favourite place in Laos, but there was not much more to do than lazing around and enjoying the beautiful surroundings.
