Gerupuk
In Lombok we want to find a nice place to stay two nights, so we can do our laundry and prepare our visa for East Timor. If you want to enter East Timor overland, you need an authorization letter to get a VOA at the border. We can apply for this authorization online but we need some documents for this. We decide to go to Kota for this. Arrived in Kota we notice that tourism here is still new, there are many hotels and restaurants, but it lacks a bit of atmosphere. The beach itself is not so nice and there is hardly any shade. We drive along the coastline and end up in Gerupuk, a local fishing village with a few homestays. In the village there are many surfers who are taken to a secluded beach with a fishing boat to surf. From the balcony at the homestay we have a beautiful view over the mountains containing small bays with white beaches. We can also hang up our hammock for the first time and it has passed the test.
Enjoying our Balcony
We share our balcony with a German girl who has also travelled a lot, and we share our experiences. We dont find an internet shop with a scanner, so we just enjoy the views on our balcony. We also visit the beach between Kota and Gerupuk, this is a beautiful white sand beach located in a beautiful bay. There are few beach shacks where you can eat a snack and have a drink, but no hotels yet.
