Bangkok: Visit from Belgium
The next morning we get up early to have breakfast with Kevins parents. The buffet is amazing. It must be a funny sight to see us eating so enthusiastic, but we really have been missing out on Western food for a long time now.
Breakfast
After breakfast, Kevin and his dad go look for a mechanic that can finally fix the broken spokes and do some maintenance. Kitty and Kevin's mom go to the massage. Kevin and his dad come back after a while with some good news: they have found someone who says he can work on our motorbike. We decide to wait for our parents departure to fix the bike so we can enjoy our time togheter.
Kevin's Dad on the Bike
In the afternoon we take a boat through Bangkok, which offers a nice cool breeze in the stifling heat. We eat a burger at McDonalds and decide to walk back a bit and we take the boat again for the final stretch.
Boat Trip in Bangkok
Arriving at the hotel we decide to go take a dip in the pool. In the evening we enjoy again some tasty western food and then we take a walk in the cosy neighbourhood around the hotel. The next day after breakfast we go to the swimming pool: it's too hot to do anything, and we spend our time chatting and swimming. In the afternoon weve had just about enough of the pool and we go to play snooker. Here, Kevin and his dad play an exciting match.
Exciting Match
Then we go on a little stroll through the neighbourhood and end op around Khao San Road: the touristic area of Bangkok with its many shops and restaurants in the narrow streets. On Khao San Road we see a few times how the shops suddenly start pulling all their merchandises from the street, back in their shop, followed by a police car passing. Their merchandises are not allowed on the street so they must do this every time the police come here. Such a hilarious sight to see everyone in action together but thats Asia... We end the evening with some good food and a drink.
The next day, its day time to say goodbye already. We are so happy that we made it here a day earlier because only one day would have been way too short: although, as is two days...
After the departure of Kevin's parents, Kevin has some work to do on the bike (we have indicators again, after two months) and Kitty updates the blog. In the evening we feast on steak with French fries, it tastes (almost) like home. We make a short walk around Khao San Road and then we go to our hotel where we spend our last night. The next morning we enjoy for the last time of the sumptuous breakfast buffet. Afterwards Kevin goes to the garage where Mickey gets a new front and rear tyre, new engine oil and oil filter and new brake fluid, while Kitty stays at the pool and looks around for a cheaper hotel to spend the night. In the evening we meet up with Ben, who in the meantime had also arrived in Bangkok, and have some beers together. We dont go to bed too late because the next day we have about 800km ahead of us...
