Road To Khao Lak

Within two weeks, our mothers are coming to Khao Lak, so we rented a house there. First we will pass by the house to check up on things, where after we will go to Phuket.
We encounter a lot of rain under the way. We hear there is a typhoon hanging over the Andaman Islands which influences the weather on the western Thai coast.
We drive through the Khao Sok National Park for the third time now, but we are still amazed by the beauty of this place. On the side of the road, Kitty spots an elephant. It was standing there alone, chained to a tree. We stop to take a look from up close. A few days ago, we saw a documentary about elephants where they explained how to recognise whether or not the elephant accepts your presence. The animal can’t run very far anyway because of the chain, so we feel comfortable to approach. When we come closer, we don’t see any sign of discomfort. Au contraire, the animal comes gently closer the moment it sees us. Quite a magical moment…

Approaching the Elephant

A fierce rain shower disrupts our visit, so we continue our drive to look for a place to seek cover for the rain. The rain doesn’t last very long and it doesn’t take long before we are back on the road. We see a sign to a waterfall and decide to take a look.

When we arrive in Khao Lak, we check upon the house and it looks great! We go to the same guesthouse where we stayed before and decide to stay for two nights. This extra day we use to complete our blog and finish some chores.
