Battambang
According to many travel-apps, Battambang is a must-see in Cambodia. They must be talking about the province because in the city itself is not much to do or see. Its okay but not really special. We walk around a bit and see some colonial buildings, the oldest bridge of the province, aerobic lessons in the park (funny to see) and a Naga (statue of a five-headed snake). The Naga was built as a symbol for peace. It was constructed with parts of weapons which were collected in the area of Battambang.
The Naga and Aerobic Lessons
The city is also famous for its bamboo train but after seeing a picture we decide it is not worth a visit. After two nights here, we leave south to the Cardamom Mountains. Were not very lucky with the weather: it starts raining not long after we leave. When the rain stops, we continue our journey but it doesnt take long before it starts raining again. In the meantime, the roads have turned into slippery mud roads and we decide to return to Battambang now we still can.
Around midnight we are back in our hotel in Battambang. We have to stay for another night because we need all day to remove all the mud from our clothes and to take Mickey to the carwash. We spend the rest of the day watching movies, because it didn't stop raining yet.
The rainy season has really begun now
