Kanyakumari

After Kovalam we move to the most southern tip of India, Kanyakumari. This is the only place in India where you can see both sunrise and sunset. Unfortunately, we are unlucky and it has been clouded during the days that we are here. Here in the sea they have scattered Gandhi’s ashes and some of it is now kept in the Gandhi Memorial Museum. Kanyakumari also houses the Indian Statue of Liberty.

First we look for a nice camping spot on the beach. This time, however, we are not so lucky: the combination of shade, fresh water, and a nearby village is not to be found. So we look for a hotel. We follow an Indian guy on a scooter who shows us some accommodations. We end up on the sixth floor in a hotel which offers nice view over the city and the ocean from "our rooftop” (there are no other rooms on the top floor, so it seems a little like our private rooftop).
On arrival we meet a couple from Canada driving around South India with a rented Royal Enfield. They are also world travellers and we share many experiences. We have a pleasant evening together, sitting on the pier, enjoying our drinks. Then it starts to rain ... time to go to sleep.
The next day we say goodbye to the Canadians and explore the town a little bit. It’s a pleasant town to see, with a nice church.

Unfortunately the megaphones that hung throughout the town, plays ear-splitting horrible music. Afterwards, we retreat to the room to enjoy the movie channel.
