Zahedan
We leave early in the morning for our last day driving in Iran. It's again a long drive through the desert but fortunately without sandstorms this time. We will spend two nights in Zahedan, close to the border with Pakistan, to rest and to prepare for our drive through Pakistan. People advised not to stay over with locals but to stay in a hotel. We got a telephone number from a cheap hotel, from our friends in Tehran so we don't have to look for a hotel this time.

The plan was to stay only one night but that would mean would mean we have to stay for three nights in Quetta, Pakistan, to get our N.O.C.. Now we arrive there on Sunday and we can apply on Monday to leave on Tuesday. It is Kitty who discovered this but a little too late or we would have spend a day more in Kerman. In Zahedan there is really nothing to do and the atmosphere is really grim here, unlike the rest of Iran, and people are staring at us the whole time. However we did get invited by a restaurant owner for a dinner. The restaurant looks quite expensive so we decide to treat ourselves on our last night in Iran. The food was delicious and when we ask for the bill, the owner refuses to accept anything. He does invite us for a drink at his place and we join him, glad we have something to do here. At his place he turns on the tv and we see him preparing a meal on national tv. Apparently he is the Iranian Jamie Oliver and is really famous all over Iran.

This way we have at least something nice to remember about Zahedan! With a nice feeling we go to bed to leave early in the morning to the border.
