Jakarta
43205 km on the counter
After a well deserved sleep, we keep it calm. We write in our blog about our hellish ride and work a bit on our website. In the evening we go to a big shopping mall, not too far from our hotel. The next day we clean our luggage because of the many rain of recent times, we had some water inside. While driving through Sumatra we had problems with our great light. Kevin has already replaced a fuse that was melted, but we have to search for the problem because it still doesnt work. Kevin sees that the fuse has melted again; it is to say, the plastic is melted, not the fuse itself. Indian quality! The problem lies in the handlebar switch container, so we go to a local Honda garage. There they cant help us so Kevin tries to fix it himself. Without success.
An Indian Fuse
Also our lubricant spray for our chain is finished, but we dont immediately find another one. We search the internet if we can use WD40 because we can find it everywhere. It appears you can better not use this lubricant. But we read on a forum about someone that made a chain lubrication system himself, for only a few euros. Normally it costs quite some money. We go to the market to look for the things we need, and we actually find everything reasonably fast. The next day we put the system together and by evening it is ready. It appears it works well.
Working on the Bike
Now we have finished our works on the bike we want to do some sightseeing in Jakarta. However, the capital of Indonesia appears to have little to offer. We search the internet for things to do or see but nothing seems really worth a visit. We call up the IMI office to inform about the process with our Carnet, but the woman tells us that she hasnt seen her boss yet. We fear that it may take quite some time before we can pick it up and decide to leave Jakarta. We can pick up our Carnet within a month when we come back to Jakarta to take the plane to Belgium, for a short break from our trip.
