India - Nepal
When we wake up we have about 250 kilometres to go to Banbassa, the Nepalese border town. At the pace of India, this means about a five hours drive. Just before the border we have to cross a dam where the cars in each direction have to cross in turn. No one says anything to us, but they probably think we can get through with the Transalp. This isnt the case with our wide panniers and mid bridge, the oncoming traffic begins to arrive. The first carriages are no problem, but with the first car we get stuck between the car and the railing because of which our mirror brakes. The border crossing is not much. If we wouldnt have had to exchange our dollars in Iran we now would have been through in an hour. Too bad, no money to pay our Visa On Arrival. Fortunately, the customs officials in Nepal are friendly and they allow us to enter Nepal without a visa, to withdraw some money in the first village. When everything is in order we can finally discover the beauty of Nepal. You cannot believe how nice and fresh the air is here, especially after all those weeks in the dust and sand.
In general y the Banbassa border crossing goes really fast without to much bureaucratic paperwork, and it is the fastest border crossing so far.
