October 08, 2014:
Spent the night on the Ilha de Santa Catarina (island of) in the beach village of Barra da Lagoa. It's a bit early for the beach crowds and many of the business's weren't open for the season. Finding something to eat was a bit of a challenge, ended up buying some items from a market.

After I departed the, Ilha de Santa Catarina I noticed some mountains to the west and decided to take a ride out to the area. I'm glad I did! The area around Sao Martinho and Rio Fortuna was one of the nicest places I've been. Dirt roads rambling through the hills with lots of small farms. The area has a lot of German influence and everything is well kept and clean.

Most of the farms have a small herd of dairy cows, some sheep, pigs and a fish pond along with a saw mill.
