Russia July 2016
July 13 -15, 2016:
Crossed back into Russia, very smooth border crossing. There's not much to see in these parts however, it's green and there's trees. I did get some terrain crossing through the southern Ural mouton range. It's been long ride days, traffic's ok however there's been a lot of construction along the route. Good thing is, everyone lets the motorcycle guy go to the front. I've only seen a few travelers riding motorcycles and they've all been Russians.
The weather has been good during the day however it's rained heavy every night. The constructions areas have been a muddy mess.
Kazakhstan, just before the Russian border.

Crossing the Ural's I stopped at a souvenir area looking for a Russian sticker, this lady had one. Once she knew I was an American she was all excited. She couldn't speak or understand English but she liked hearing me talk.

Chip a hole through the pavement, dig down a couple meters and anchor the plastic house down, that'll do.

Not sure what the 1700 KM is about. Inside the compound it was just a big parking area for trucks.

Stopped along the road for some water, nothing within miles, and noticed this within the tress.

Rain Stop. These two were very proud of whatever they had on the fire, some sort of kabob:

Rode into Kurgan looking for a place/garage to check the moto over and change the transmission oil. Wasn't having any luck until I went to a Ford dealership and met a guy there that spoke some English. He didn't work there, was just visiting with friends I think, anyway he told me to follow him in his car. He took me to a machine shop where his son worked and they let me do the work there. I didn't ask how much, they were to nice, when I was finished I did ask and offered something, they didn't want anything. They wished me a safe journey and I was on my way.

A very long, 256 mile ride day, lots of thunder storms. Taking shelter in a bus stop.

Most every one I've met in Russia has been very friendly and helpful despite the language barrier. Most seem impressed with seeing an American and like taking photo's of the license plate. The truckers have been very good on and off the road.
If all goes well, I should reach the Mongolian border in three days. Russia is BIG.
