May 29, 2016:
Riding through Italy I started getting the feeling something wasn't quite right with the moto, something in the rear differential. No oil leaking however, I could feel some play in the drive system. Decided to ride into Piding, Germany and have a BMW shop diagnose the issue. The town is very close to Berchtesgaden and I was planning on going there to visit the, Eagles Nest.
It was a bad day for riding, got held up a few times due to rain however I made it to Piding and got a place to stay close to the BMW shop.

May 30, 2016:
The shop got the moto in first thing and started taking things apart. By the time I returned from breakfast they had the issue identified, the rear drive/differential unit needed replacing. A double ouch seeings how I had just replaced the bearing and seals in the unit while in Spain. Oh well, it's raining and cold and the forecast is for more of the same for the next few days. Mine as well take advantage of the German beer!
May 31, 2016:
Took the train into Berchtesgaden and then a couple busses up to Hitlers Eagle's Nest. I really didn't know much about the place and was surprised to learn it's a private restaurant that's open for tourism.

June 01, 2016:
The owners of the place I was staying at, Pension Erberbauer, invited me to their home to have dinner and a few drinks. Parents, Walter & Inge and the sons, Peter & Christian. We had such a great time talking about traveling and looking at some old photo albums of Walter and Inge's past adventures. We were so busy having fun I forgot to take some photos.
