December 02, 2014:
Woke to a beautiful day, strong wind but nothing like the day before. 135 miles to Ushuaia!

The wind calmed once I reached the mountain area:

The stretch of road, Ruta 3, from Tolhuin to Ushuaia is one of the best roads I've ridden:

Song of the Day: End of the Line, The Traveling Wilburys

Got settled in and then went to a small store near the hostel. Got talking to the owner, Moriaki and learned he was a motorcyclist and is from Okinawa, Japan. In 1965 he bought a new Honda and then in 1966 he shipped it to Long Beach, CA. He spent sometime with his brother and then rode the moto to Las Vegas and back. He then decided to head for Ushuaia, so in 1968-69 he did and has been here ever since, He still has the motorcycle! His home is the store and he invited me in to see his photos and see some of his motorcycle memorabilia.

One of the major attractions in Ushuaia is the Prison & Maritime Museum. The day was still young so I spent a couple hours visiting.

Most of the prisoners worked in the forests, cutting for lumber and also firewood for the prison and town:
