Venezuela to Brazil

Departed Caracas on 02 November and headed for Ciudad Guayana to get a visa for Brazil, two day mostly uneventful ride. Arrived on a Sunday and got settled in at the Rock Inn Hotel. The next morning while inquiring about the location of the Brazil consulate the owner of the hotel, Pedro, offered to drive me there and help with translation, Portugese. Come to find out I needed to provide a six month bank and credit card statement to apply for the visa. Pedro let me use his office at the hotel and I was able to print out everything I needed and was able to submit everything that day. The computer system at the consulate went down so I had to return the following day and finish everything but all went fairly well. Received the visa on Thursday!
Departed Friday the 8th for Santa Elena, Venezula, 375 miles south near the Brazil border. The road goes through the Gran Sabana region which is very scenic if the weather cooperates. Hit rain a few times and then was stopped three times at military check points so it took longer than I had planned. By the time I reached Santa Elena it was dark, I don't like riding at night.

Rained all day on the 9th so I hung out and visited with some other travelers most of the day. The 10th was a good day so I headed for Brazil! Decided to head south to Manaus and see the Rio Negro and Amazon rivers before heading north into Guyana. Stopped for the night in Boa Vista and then again in Rorainopolis on the way down.

Brazil border crossing. It took about :20 minutes to get through and that included visiting and taking the photo.
