Onto Villa O'Higgins and then Chile Chico
Country
November 19 -22, 2017:
From Chaiten I rode to Puerto Asyen, then to Puerto Rio Tranquilo and then to Villa O’Hiiggins which is the end of the Carretera Austral. I stayed one night in Villa O’Higgins and then rode back north to Chile Chico. Four days of long riding but it was some of the best scenery and gravel road I’ve done on this journey! Amazing place.
These big plants are all along the road side, they look like a giant rhubarb type plant. I did see some people eating it.
Song of the Day: Knock Three Times, Tony Orlando and Dawn / I stopped for lunch in Cochrane and this song played on the radio. The only English song they played.
A very long and happy four days of riding!! The only down side, six miles from Villa O'Higgins I got a 3/4 inch slash in my rear tire. I was able to plug it, (2 1/2 plugs) and surprisingly it worked. Once I got to town I put a patch on the inside however, I'm going to need a new tire.
I crossed back into Argentina on November 23, 2017 and rode Ruta 40 to Gobernador Gregores. I decided to take a rest day to do laundry and maintenance on the motorcycle and riding gear. Life is Good!
