One of the events tomorrow is a contest climbing a greased pole to get the flag attached to the top worth 5,000 Cordoba's ($200). They dug a hole in the street today and will bring the pole in tonight.

They carried this pole all through the streets, playing music and dancing the whole way. Every now and then stopping to switch out people and have some drinks. It started raining but no one seemed to care about that. The pole must go on.
Stopping for drinks and a plan to navigate the grass hut.

The drinking part went great, however the plan to get around the grass hut didn't go so well. They made it but two children and one old lady got knocked down and one guy got his head pinched in between the pole and a grass hut post. The whole time there was crazy loud music playing and fireworks going off all over the place. There are no medical emergency services, anywhere.

Getting in out of the rain. The two guys in the front along with the first girl on the left were from Germany, they were also traveling with a Canadian girl, missing. I hung out with them some, had a great time. Hadn't laughed that much in a long time. The two guys in the back left were from Illinois traveling in a Land Cruiser to Costa Rica and back.
