Off to Limoncocha
Febuary 15, 2014
When I was in Tena one of the guides services said they could book me on a three day fishing trip to Laguna Limoncocha. It was only a few hour ride out so I thought I'd check things out first.
Much of this area of Ecuador is controlled due to indigenous people, wildlife and the oil industry. Come to find out, Laguna Limoncocha has many restrictions and one of them is, no fishing other than by the local community. A woman at the government office / information center spoke pretty good English and was very helpful. I mentioned the offer from the guide service and she said that wouldn't have been a good idea. It's a small lake and it's watched constantly. Fishing in the river is permitted however due to the over fishing with nets and explosives I would defiantly need to go further down river. Oh well.
