Back in Europe, May 2016
May 10, 2016:
Crossed back into Spain and went to the BMW dealership in Algeciras to put a pair of new hiking shoes on the moto. I was concerned about the front and rear wheel bearings and the mechanic confirmed they needed replacing, now. Unfortunately he didn't have time to do the repairs, shop was closing for a week, however he got me set up with a shop in Puerto de Santa Maria the next morning. They were waiting for me when I arrived. Once things were good I headed for Portugal to see an old Navy buddy from my time on the USS Orion (AS-18), La Maddalena, Italy, 1986. Good times!

Spent a couple days in Santiago do Cacem and then made a run into Lisbon to UPS a couple things and then headed east for Andorra. The weather had been cold and windy for the most part, some rain, since I got back into Europe. I had a couple nice days crossing Spain though.

The last stop in Spain was in Col de Nargo near the border of Andorra in the Pyrenees mountains. The next morning the weather had taken a turn for the worst, strong winds, cold and rain. It was brutal, really.
Crossing through Andorra I noticed a vintage motorcycle show, stopped and visited, well attempted to, no one there spoke Spanish or English.

Crossed into France and was forced to stop a few times due to heavy rains. Finding a warm place for lunch in Camurac was very welcoming.

Caught a break in the weather and took a couple photos, the roads and scenery were fantastic:

I had spent the evening in Narbonne and then rode straight to Monaco, no rain but it was cold and the wind was incredibly strong. Rough day in the saddle. Arrived in Monaco and stayed long enough to take a photo and get something to drink. They're setting up for the Grand Prix and it was crowded. I rode on to Sanremo, Italy.

Decided to spend an extra day in Sanremo, update the blog, download some GPS maps and enjoy some Italian food. It's a beautiful day to hang out on the balcony!
