El Tunco Beach

June 10, 2013

Still in El Tunco hanging out. Been meeting a lot of travelers doing the bus/back pack thing, it's fun sharing travel stories and learning about places to visit. Not sure how much longer I'll be here but plan on heading to Honduras soon. I'll do one more stop before the border and get a couple day plan together.
Finally washed my riding gear today, damn it was dirty.

Got up a little late, 07:30 but I don't care. Got some breakfast in me and headed for El Tunco Beach. Met a spread out group of moto's (20-25) heading in the opposite direction on the coast road. Most were on BMW's and all were packed really light, looked like a tour group. Some waved but most had death grips on the handle bars. Have yet to meet any fellow moto travelers going my way as of yet.
The coast road is a great ride, nice road and little traffic.
El Tunco is a small surfing village with just few streets, really just a one way in and out of the village and a dirt road through the center to the beach. A few El Salvadorian and American surfers here on vacation. Looks like some of the Americans have been here a long time. The beach isn't that nice, coarse black sand and lots of rocks, however the surf looks fantastic.

This guy was just hanging out with his coconut in the surf watching people. He was very particular in who he would let throw it for him.
