Chimborazo
Febuary 17, 2014
Rode E35 South in hopes of seeing Cotopaxi Volcano but again, doomed by weather. Decided to give it a day or two in hopes it would show itself so I found a place to stay in Lasso. Day two, rain. The morning of the 19th the weather didn't look promising either so I decided to ride to Guaranda in hopes I'd get a view of Chimborazo Valcano along the way. Wasn't expecting to see it however I didn't want to stay in my room anymore.
As I rode south the weather seemed to clear some and once I headed into the mountains on E491 it was a fantastic ride. The road was excellent with plenty of places to stop and admire the views. When the sky is clear this country must be amazingly scenic.

I guess they have a different definition of a river here. That's a water fall in the center of the photo:

On the way into Guaranda I met these two, Paul and Chloe, Kiwi & Aussie. They started in Canada six months ago and have another four or five months of riding in SA:

Paul had an issue with one of his throttle cables and was just finishing up when I arrived. We rode into Guaranda and found a place for the evening.
