Along R396 just east of Rhodes heading towards Naude's Nek (pass)From October 2015

The wind was blowing like crazy, I was concerned about getting to close to the edge for fear of getting blown off the road. Beautiful scenery however the conditions didn't allow much time to truly enjoy it.

A guy in Pretoria told me about his nephew that owned a ranch along this route and I managed to find him. There happen to be four other riders there, one of them had an issue with his front rim and stopped in to use the shop for repairs.

Rode into Kokstad for the night and then to Coffee Bay.

The second day in Coffee Bay I met a young girl named Unako. I was making a beer run for the place I was staying and when I arrived at the store she ran up to greet me, hugging me around the leg, smiling like crazy. She had a motive though, she wanted to wear my helmet.

The weather wasn't as nice as I had hoped for, some rain and lots of wind, however there was some nice breaks and I took advantage them.

I stopped in to visit Unako often, she was always waving and smiling when I arrived. She liked sitting next to me holding my hand. One day when she saw me, instead of running up to me, she waved and motioned for me to wait for her. A couple minutes later she returned wearing a yellow and orange flowered sun dress.
There's no petrol station in Coffee Bay, closest place is 14 miles out where the main store for the area is located. Anyway, I needed fuel and made a run and while in the store I found a doll. I stopped in to see Unako when I arrived in Coffee Bay and sure enough she heard the moto and was waving when pulled up. She was standing in the doorway with just a shirt on. She started to run out to greet me but someone stopped her and had her put on some pants. She would have run out bare butt for sure. After our greeting hug and chit chat I put her up on the moto and gave her the doll that was wrapped in a bag. She really didn't know what to say, she was a bit overwhelmed. Later a couple people told me it was most likely the first toy she had ever been given.

I quickly became the guy around Coffee Bay that would give rides to kids if they needed it. Kids going home from school or coming from the shops. Many times it was the kids mothers that ask me. They always thanked me and told me how nice I was for doing it. One Sunday I went to a small village and had two girls organize the children and spent the day giving rides. I took two kids at a time and they got about a three mile ride. I put over 125 miles on the moto that day.
These two were pretty excited but when the camera came out they were a bit shy or they were just trying to look tough.
