May 25, 2016:
Spent a good part of the day getting out of the Genoa area. I attempted to stay off the highways and ride along the coast however after a few hours of traffic and getting nowhere quick I got on the E80, the number and length of tunnels is impressive along this route.
Arrived in Pisa mid afternoon and attempted to get myself and moto close to the tower for a photo. There was a lot of work being done and some of the areas were closed off. I spoke with a couple security guards about letting me through and parking just long enough for a photo, I just needed to get 40 meters closer. They weren't giving in, nothing. They were both very interested in my travels but allowing me to get closer for a photo, wasn't happening. A couple of the workers even pleaded my case some, nothing.
This is the photo I was able to get:

From Pisa I rode east into the Tuscany region and spent the night in the town of Poppi.

May 26, 2016:
Got an early start on the day, rode through the San Marino and then into Rimini before turning north. It was pretty much a ride day, didn't take any photos and other than a couple water stops and a fuel stop I was moving. It was late afternoon by the time I reached Lake Garda. Something to eat, a couple beers and I was done.

The days plan, ride the Stelvio Pass! Got an early start however finding a route to the Stelvio Pass turned out to be a bit difficult. Many of the roads and passes that would get me there were closed for various reasons. While stopped at a junction trying to figure out a route on the GPS an Austrian couple on a GS stopped and offered some assistance. They knew the area and invited me to join them for the day.

Got to the summit and there had been an avalanche so they had closed the pass. They had cleared the road but decided to keep it closed for the remainder of the day. It was almost quitting time for the workers.

Looks like it would have been a fun ride into the valley:
