Northern Chile to Argentina
Country
October 14, 2017:
The plan is to ride north and cross over into Argentina on the Passo de Jama and then take Ruta 40 Soouth. First stop, La Serena, Chile.
Hostal El Punto:
The weather was looking good and I was hoping for a sunny coastline ride however things change quickly. The northern Coast of Chile is barren and rough.
I stopped one night in Taltal for the evening however other than getting something to eat I didn't explore the town. I was cold and tired.
One the way to San Pedro Atacama I stopped for the ofligatory photo of the, Mano de Desierto. The weather cleared as I rode inland and it actually was quite hot. Beautiful clear sky.
Somewhere in the Atacama:
I spent the night in San Pedro and was up early to cross the Passo de Jama.
A beautiful clear day however, it was very cold and the wind was a blowin.
Cleared customs into Argentina easy enough and didn't stick around for photos or goodbyes, the wind was brutal. Once I lost some altitude and reached the village of Susques I was good.
Susques:
Not much going on in Susques so I decided to take Ruta 40 south to San Antonio de los Cobres,

Southward to Cafayte:
Spent two days in Cafayte, no pics, rested and washed cloths. The altitude had kicked me some and I need a rest. Once I'm above 12,000' I don't sleep good.
October 21, 2017:
The plan, ride to San Rafael and visit some friends that have a farm, plum tress & vineyard, for a couple weeks and then continue south. I'll be riding ground I've done the last time I was here.
There's lots of shrines along the road sides in SA however this one seemed quite unique, it seemed to have a used auto and motorycle pars theme.
Along with the chains, sprockets, oil filters and water pumps, it had a tv!
